In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day I’ve created a character craftivity! I absolutely love the quote by Dr. King where he says “…they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” During this MLK craft and printables students will explore different attributes that make up good character, discussing why it’s important not to judge others on their outside appearance.
-”I Have a Dream Character Craftivity” (includes: instructions, writing prompts w/ 2 different line options (one with no lines for drawing and labeling), printouts & templates
I’m also having my very first giveaway!! Follow the directions below to enter to win this MLK Craftivity (You must leave a comment for each entry in order to win). This contest ends on Sunday, January 13 at Midnight, so enter today!

Winter is upon us and what better time to sit inside, enjoying a hot drink, and shopping on TpT in your PJ’s! This weekend I will be joining a number of other TpT Sellers to offer a Welcome Winter 20% Sale. Friday, December 21st through Sunday, December 23rd every item in my store will be on sale.
Included in the sale will be my newest 7 Habits Craftivity “Put First Things First {7 Habit Craftivity #3}”.
In this 7 Habits Craftivity students will learn to “work first, then play!” Included in this unit are:
-”First Things First” Craft Templates & Directions
-Writing Prompt Page & Cutouts {“First Things First” Prompt and work/play cutouts} (2 sheets to differentiate learning)
-Work First, Then Play “TO-DO List”
This is a great craft that helps students prioritize their tasks and decipher between work and play. The goal is to help them put those first things (not always the most fun, but the most necessary) first and then they can really enjoy their down time or fun time.
I absolutely ENJOY Math Centers! I know the kids do too. There’s something so great about turning the concepts you’re learning about into more of a fun game, then a required workbook page.
During the year it seems easy to find centers based on Seasons and Holidays, but I find it difficult to find many Bible based centers. That’s why I came up with “Welcome Baby Jesus! {Nativity Themed Math Centers and Activities}”. These are fun centers that hit Math concepts that students need to be learning in 1st and 2nd Grades and have the characters represented from the first Christmas like Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, Shepherds and more.
Here’s what you’ll find inside:
* “Welcome Baby Jesus!” Nativity Counting Mini-Book and Class Book Idea
* Magi Skip Counting (Count by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s)
* Sheepish Doubles (Adding doubles 1-9)
*“Time” to Follow the Star (Telling time to the hour and half hour)
* Silent Night Sums (Addition)
* Donkey Differences (Subtraction)
*Addition and Subtraction True and False
The fun thing is, these don’t even have to be only for your students, you can give them for your own kids, grandkids, church kids.
Enjoy sharing the greatest story on earth about Jesus’ birth in a fun, cross-curricular way!
Happy Veterans Day! There are so many individuals whom have served our country and even given their lives for our freedom. We can never say “thank you” enough! It’s so important for us to lead our young one’s to see what men and women military branches have really sacrificed and done for our nation.
This fun little Veterans Craftivity is a great resource when you celebrate Veterans Day! You can read books with your student’s that highlight our nation’s heroes and then proceed to a fun writing page about them. Your students can decide whether they want to make a man or women hero with the templates provided.
Easy to follow steps for a fun Veteran’s Day Craft!
October is Fire Safety month! I’m so glad they do this in our elementary schools and make it such a priority to help our young people be prepared in the case of an emergency. It is especially great if local firefighters can come to your school (or you can visit a station) and your students can meet these outstanding individuals. I always found that it eased some of the fears about those scary sirens and masks, and helped students realize that firefighters are their friends and heroes! I personally always thought it was a great idea for them to speak to the kids while wearing their masks, just in case they are in a real fire and ever hear that kind of “Darth Vader” type voice.
“Fire! Fire!” By Gail Gibbons An oldie but a goodie for teaching about fire safety!
I have created a Firefighter Hero Craftivity that students can make that focuses on the hero aspect of firefighters. This unit can be used for remembering 9/11, Fire Safety Month, or even when studying community helpers! It comes with templates for each aspect of the firefighter as well as My Hero is… writing prompt pages.

I can’t believe I’m doing this! A few months ago my sister-in-law (who happens to be the fabulouso blogger from Beginner Beans) found out about the Influence Conference and asked me if I’d like to go too. It sounded like a lot of fun at the time, but October seemed so far off that I told her yes, and then didn’t think much about it for a while. Now here I am in September and I’ve bought my ticket to attend this amazing sounding conference with amazing sounding speakers in an amazing sounding place…and I’m a little nervous (and a little amazed…apparently).
The Influence Conference is set up to be a conference for bloggers and people in general who want to find out how to influence this world for Christ in a big way and in a way that utilizes all of the wonderful technological advances that we have in this day and age. We also get to meet hundreds of other women who are striving for the same thing. WOW!
So today, I’m linking up with the Influence Conference Blog in a little Pre-Conference “Meet & Greet”. Even if you aren’t attending the conference you may just learn a little something about me that you didn’t know before.
So here goes:
3 Get-to know-me things
1. I love people! That being said, I’m feeling a little shy about meeting everyone at this conference. I used to pride myself in being outgoing, but I’m beginning to wonder if I’m becoming more introverted with age! Hopefully this conference will help me step out of my comfort zone and meet a whole bunch of new friends.
2. I’ve taught 1st and 2nd grades for almost a decade, and am taking this school year off to stay home with my 17 m/o daughter. This is a huge leap of faith for me and has definitely had it’s ups and downs already in just getting into the schedule of being a Stay-At-Home Mom. I’m hoping to really settle in and find ministry opportunities while being home.
3. My family and I are moving into an Airstream trailer this next year! My husband runs an online meal planning service (Veggie Meal-Maker.com) so the location in which he does his job is extremely flexible. We’re both interested in living a more minimalist lifestyle and to concentrate our time, money, and talents on things for God. I know we’re in for an adventure! You can follow along on our family blog Livin’ Lightly. So I will be downsizing my wardrobe, household items, SHOES!!! and much more these next couple of weeks. Yikes!
I also LOVE music, playing guitar and being part of a Praise Team at our church. (oops… I guess that’s 4!)
2 Things I’m looking forward to about the Conference
1. I’m really looking forward to all of the people that I’ll have the opportunity to connect with and brainstorm ideas with.
2. I can’t wait to listen to all of the presenters. The list of speakers and break-outs looks just amazing (I know I’m going to have a hard time choosing what break-outs to go to!).
1 Thing I can’t leave home without
I really can’t leave home without my Burt’s Bees Chapstick! Even if I’m just heading out on a run I have to have it! I’m also connected at the hip with my water bottle (but there I go again, adding more to the list).
I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone and gaining more insight/focus into what direction this blog and other areas of my life are to go.
